China's main stock market tumbled more than 4 percent. The dollar steadied against major currencies but held on to recent gains, at 10.00am BST it was trading at 1.5950 agaisnt Euro. Commodities remained in focus amid global shortages with rice prices gaining almost 4 percent to a new record, while gold is at $943.60 and oil also climbed.
